Product Detail	It mediates the endocytosis of plasma glycoproteins whose terminal sialic acid residues on their complex carbohydrate moieties have been removed. This receptor recognizes terminal galactose and N-acetylgalactosamine units. After the ligand binds to the receptor, the resulting complex is internalized and transported to a sorting organelle, where the receptor dissociates from the ligand. The receptor then returns to the cell membrane surface. Calcium is necessary for ligand binding.
