Cytochalasin B
Cytochalasin B, an organic heterocyclic compound, is a mycotoxin that permeates cells and is a cytokinesis inhibitor by blocking the formation of contractile microfilamentes.
Molecular formula: C29H37NO5
Molecular weight: 479.6
Physical properties and indexes:
Appearance: …………………… White crystalline powder
Solubility: ………………… Dissolved in DMSO(20 mg/ml), DMF(30mg/ml) acetone (10.3 mg/ml); Insoluble in water
Purity: …………………… >98%,BR
Melting point: …………………… 218 ~ 223 ° C
Use: biochemical reagent. Cytorelaxin B is derived from Drechslera dematioidea. Cytorelaxin (cytorelaxin B and its derivatives) binds to the positive end of the microfilament in the cell and causes F-actin depolymerization, blocking further polymerization of the subunit. When cytorelaxin is added to living cells, the actin fiber skeleton disappears, paralyzing various activities of animal cells, including cell movement, phagocytosis, and cytokinesis. It has no effect on microtubules and does not inhibit muscle contraction because actin filaments in muscle fibers are stable structures and do not undergo dynamic equilibrium of assembly and depolymerization.
Recommended solution preparation (for reference only)
Cytochalasin B is a solid crystalline powder, soluble in ethanol or DMSO, but difficult to dissolve in water. In order to enhance its solubility in water, cytochalasin B can be dissolved in DMF first, and then dissolved in water, the solubility of approximately 0.05mg/ml in 1:20 DMF/PBS
